This workshop trains you to transfer objects and people correctly and safely. It focuses on employees and others who have to, as part of their employment, carry out manual handling, and covers a number of the areas outlined in the Workcover Core Training Elements on Manual Handling.
   
You will learn and practice a number of transfers of people and objects as well as relevant problem solving, so that you can apply these to your own work environment.
   
The day will cover the following:
  • Injury statistics and prevalence
  • Care of your back
  • Environmental factors contributing to safety
  • Manual Handling Plans
  • Hazard reporting
  • Will be devoted to skills learning demonstration of techniques and practice.
  • Problem solving of difficult manual handling situations.
  • Principles of correct handling (ie adopting strong positions)
  • Assessment of your transfer skills.**


The session is conducted by a field practitioner assessor with years of experience in human services. he participants who are successful in demonstrating a competency will receive Certification of Competency.  ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST PRE BOOK FOR THIS PROGRAM so they can receive a text/workbook  to  commence their training via flexible delivery immediately and then attend the practical workshop on the designated day.
